LUMPIXEL
Lumpixel mark — a beam of light becoming a pixel

Our Identity

A beam of light that becomes a pixel.

The name Lumpixel joins lumen — light — with pixel, the smallest unit of a screen. The mark tells that story in one gesture.

Light, landing on the grid.

A beam enters from the upper left as pure light — weightless, transparent. As it travels, it gains density, and where it lands it crystallizes into a solid pixel: the unit we build everything from. There is no border between the two — the seam is hidden on the pixel's diagonal, so the light doesn't touch the pixel. It becomes the pixel.

Officially, lumen + pixel.

Unofficially — there were once two cats. One always found the light: any window, any hour, she knew where the sun would land before it did. The other hunted dots across a screen no one else could see. Lum and Pixel. They lived here when this studio was only an idea.

One day they left, the way light leaves a room — quietly, and with someone. The studio kept working. The name kept them. Every beam that lands here, lands for them.

Three moves, one grid.

  1. The beam. A quad travelling at 45°, opening from a 8-unit edge to the full width of the pixel. Its gradient runs from 0% opacity at origin to 100% at landing.
  2. The pixel. A 22-unit square, perfectly sharp, sitting on the lower-right of the 96-unit grid. No rounding — a pixel has corners.
  3. The hidden seam. The beam terminates exactly on the pixel's anti-diagonal (dashed). At that line both shapes are at full opacity, so the join is invisible — light and pixel are one body.

How to treat it.

Clearspace

Keep a margin around the mark equal to the pixel's width (22/96 of the mark's height). Nothing enters that zone.

Minimum size

16 px for the bare mark, 24 px for the favicon tile. Below that, use the pixel square alone.

Color

Champagne #e8d6a8 on dark grounds, gold #c2a35e on light. One color per use — never both, never anything else.

Don't

Don't rotate the beam, round the pixel, add glow or shadow, or place the mark on busy imagery.
